Robert Garland Wickliffe

Robert Garland Wickliffe was born June 23, 1898, probably in Montague County, Texas—although according to the Archival Records of the University of Oklahoma, Robert claims to have been born in St. Joseph, Missouri.  He was the eldest of eight children born to Robert Lee Wickliffe and Lilly F. (maiden name unknown).

In his early adulthood, Robert was described as short to medium height and of medium build with dark brown hair and grey eyes.  He was known as both Robert and Garland.

In 1920, Robert was living with his parents in Chilliclothe, Hardeman County, Texas.  He was working as a bookkeeper in a grocery store, probably working with his father.
