**There has been some conflicting
research done regarding Alice Boggess, William Crick, Sylvester F. Driskill,
and Sylvester M. Driskill. I have done
my best to muddle through the records and my research notes can be found here.
Alice Adelaide Boggess was born on May 13, 1861 in Muhlenberg
County, Kentucky. She was the eighth of
eleven children born to Lemuel Boggess, Jr. and Frances D. Adkins. She
and the other children were raised working on the family farm in Muhlenberg
County.
Alice married
Sylvester Franklin Driskill on January 12, 1880 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. She was 18 years old and he was one month shy
of 21 years. Sylvester was born on
February 4, 1859 in Todd County, Kentucky, the son of Fernie Green Driskill and
Anna E. Mayfield.
Sylvester and Alice
were the parents of eight children:
Crawford B. Driskill born February 1883
Clifford E. Driskill born October 1884
Claud A. Driskill born August 1886
Virgil E. Driskill born November 1888

One child born and died between 1890 and 1900
In June 1880, the
young couple was living in Court House, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. Their home was right next to the home of
Sylvester’s sister, Adelia Ford, and her family. Sylvester’s mother was living with Adelia’s
family as well. Sylvester was working as
a farmer at that time.
In 1900, Sylvester and
Alice and their children were living and working on a farm in Madisonville,
Hopkins County, Kentucky.
By 1910, the family
had moved into a home on Depot Street in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. At that time, Sylvester was employed as a
representative for a picture company.
Sylvester and Alice
were renting a home on 11th Street in Bowling Green, Warren County,
Kentucky in 1930. Also listed in their
household were their daughter, Ruth, and a granddaughter, Elsie. Ruth was working as a teacher and Sylvester
was employed as a sewing machine salesman.
Sylvester Franklin
Driskill died on April 18, 1933 in Greenville, Muhlenerg County, Kentucky. He was buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in
Greenville. He was 74 years old at his
death.
Alice Adelaide Boggess
Driskill died six years later, on March 11, 1939 in Bowling Green, Warren
County, Kentucky. The cause of death was
“cancer of [the] uterus,” from which she had suffered for more than a
year. She was laid to rest in
Greenville, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, likely next to her husband in the
Evergreen Cemetery. She was 77 years old
at her death.
