Susan Boggus (1843- )

Susan Boggus was born about 1843 in Arkansas.  She was the daughter of Robert D. Boggess and Susan Benton.  She was raised on the family farm in Dyer County, Tennessee. 

Susan married James Comrie on June 13, 1867 in Dyer County, Tennessee.  She was about 24 years old at that time.

Robert D. Boggess (1813- )

Robert D. Boggess was born about 1813 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  He was the son of Joel and Fanny Boggess.  Robert lived in Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri and Texas during his childhood.

Robert married Susan Benton around 1839, probably in Arkansas.  He was about 36 years old and she was around 16 years.  Susan was born in 1823 in Tennessee, the daughter of Nathaniel Benton and Dorothy Myra Branch.

After their marriage, Robert and Susan settled their family on a farm in Missouri, Clark County, Arkansas.  By 1846, they had moved their family to a farm in Dyersburgh, Dyer County, Tennessee.  Robert was appointed postmaster in Dyersburgh on March 20, 1846.

Le Roy Boggess (1809- )


Le Roy Boggess was born about 1809 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  He was the son of Joel and Fanny Boggess.  Le Roy lived in Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri and Texas during his childhood.

Le Roy married Nancy R. Sutton on February 4, 1844 in Hempstead County, Arkansas.  He was 35 years old and she was 37 years.  Nancy was born about 1807.

Lula Florence Barron (1894-1990)


Lula Florence Barron was born on August 1894 in Rapides Parish, Louisiana.  She was the fourth of six children born to RileyEugene Barron and Althea Slay.  She was raised in Rapides Parish.

Lula married Joseph Hope Watts on July 3, 1922 in Rapides Parish, Louisiana.  She was 27 years old and he was 34 years.  Joseph was born on January 11, 1888 in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, the son of Thomas J. Watts and Drucilla Walker.  At the time of their marriage, Joseph was employed as a Station Foreman for the railroad, and Lula was a public school teacher.

Joseph was a veteran of the First World War, having registered for the draft in June 1917.  At that time, he was described as a tall man of medium build, with gray eyes and black hair.

In 1930, the couple was living in a home on Huffman Street in Alexandria, Rapides Parish. 

Joseph Hope Watts died on September 5, 1941 in Rapides Parish, Louisiana.  He was 53 years old at his death.  Lula went on to live another 59 years after the death of her husband.

Lula Florence Barron Watts died on January 11, 1990 in Alexandria, Rapides Parish.  She was 96 years old at her death.  Lula was buried in Greenwood Cemetery.

William "Willie" Barron (1891-1900)


William “Willie” Barron was born December 1891 in Rapides Parish, Louisiana.  He was the third of six children born to Riley EugeneBarron and Althea Slay.  He was raised in Rapides Parish.

William Barron died on September 11, 1900 in Rapides Parish.  He was just 8 years old at his death.  Willie was buried at the Holloway Methodist Church Cemetery in Holloway, Rapides Parish, Louisiana.

Minnie Alice Barron (1889-1979)


Minnie Alice Barron was born November 23, 1889 in Rapides Parish, Louisiana.  She was the second of six children born to RileyEugene Barron and Althea Slay.  She was raised in Rapides Parish.

Minnie married Thomas Lonnie Cooper on January 10, 1908 in Rapides Parrish.  She was 18 years old and he was 23 years.  Thomas was born on March 19, 1884 in Louisiana, the son of Etheldred D. Cooper and Christian Isabella Williams.  Thomas and Minnie had at least four children:

            Hazel  Rae                 born 1911
            Laverne                     born 1915
            Nell                             born 1920

After their marriage, the couple settled their family in Allen Parish, Louisiana, where Thomas found work at a saw mill.

Thomas Lonnie Cooper died on May 23, 1922 in Shreveport, Caddo Parish, Louisiana.  He was 38 years old at his death.

Hazel Rae Cooper died on January 14, 1936 in Oakdale, Allen Parish, Louisiana.  She was 25 years old at her death.

Minnie Alice Barron Cooper died on May 5, 1979 in Oakdale, Allen Parish, Louisiana.  She was 89 years old at her death

Alice Laurette Nugent (1860-1885)

Alice Laurette Nugent was born on August 12, 1860 in Rapides Parish, Louisiana.  She was the fourth of five children born to Cornelius Nugent and Amanda Antionette Sims.  She was raised in Rapides Parish.

Alice married Riley Eugene Barron on November 8, 1876 in Rapides Parish.  She was 16 years old and he was 20 years.  Riley was born November 2, 1856 in Pike County, Louisiana, the son of William Henry Barron and Malinda Felder. 

After their marriage, Riley and Alice settled their family in Rigolette, Rapides Parish, Louisiana, where Riley was employed at a saw mill.  The couple had two children:

            Henry Cornelius "Neal" Barron       born 1880

Alice Laurette Nugent Barron died on April 15, 1885 in Rapides Parish, Louisiana.  She was 24 years old at her death.

Riley married again on July 27, 1886 in Rapides Parish, to Althea Slay.  He was 29 years old and she was 23 years.  Althea was born in May 1865 in Mississippi, the daughter of William Sidney Slay and Laura Ann Hargrove.  Riley and Althea had six children:

In 1900, Riley and his family were renting a home in Pollock, Grant Parish, Louisiana, where he continued working at a saw mill.  By 1910, the family had moved to Winn Parish, Louisiana.   

In 1920, Riley and Althea and their three youngest daughters were living on a farm in Cheneyville, Rapides Parish, where Riley was working as a farmer.

Althea Slay Barron died on March 10, 1933 in Lecompton, Rapides Parrish, Louisiana.  She was 67 years old at her death. 

Riley Eugene Barron died three years later, on February 4, 1936 in the same place.  He was 79 years old at his death.
