Peter Boggess was born about 1811 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  He was the son of Joel and Fanny Boggess.  Peter lived in Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri and Texas during his childhood.

Peter married Amanda M. West on September 3, 1839 in Hempstead County, Arkansas.  He was 28 years old and she was 17 years.  Amanda was born about 1822 in Mississippi.  They had at least four children:

Mary Virginia Boggus                    born October 24, 1870

In 1870, Peter and Amanda, and their new family, were living in Pineville, Rapides County, Louisiana.  Peter was then employed as a physician.

Amanda A. Sims Nugent Boggess died in October 1879 in Rigolette, Rapides County, Louisiana, at the age of 48.  The cause of death was congestion of the bowels.
