Josephus G. Hall (1847-1919)

Josephus G. “Joe” Hall was born on April 4, 1847 in Smith County, Tennessee.  He was the son of Thomas T. Hall and Susanna Fisher.  Joe was raised on the family farm in Smith County, Tennessee.

Joe married Carrie Maude McGehee around 1888 in Todd County, Kentucky.  He was 43 years old and she was 18 years.  Carrie was born on November 21, 1870 in Todd County, Kentucky, the daughter of John C. McGehee and Juliet Ann Pendleton.

Joe and Carrie had one child:

Harry Hall                  born January 9, 1890

In 1900, Joe and Carrie were living in a home in Clifty, Todd County, Kentucky.  Joe was working at a dry goods store at that time.  Joe’s nephew, Arnet Hall, was also listed in the household.  Arnett was the son of Joe’s brother, Dero Hall.

By 1910, Joe and Carrie had moved their family onto a farm in Clifty, Todd County, Kentucky, where they worked the land together.

Carrie Maude McGehee Hall died on April 23, 1919 in Clifty, Todd County, Kentucky.  The cause of death listed was “tuberculosis of the lungs.”  She was buried in the Slaughter Cemetery in Clifty, Todd County, Kentucky.  Carrie was 48 years old at her death.

Josephus G. Hall followed his wife in death just three months later.  He died on July 13, 1919 in Todd County, Kentucky.  The cause of death was apoplexy (stroke).  Joe was buried beside his wife in the Slaughter Cemetery in Clifty, Todd County, Kentucky.  He was 72 years old at his death.

Harry Hall (1890-1982)

Harry Hall was born on January 9, 1890 in Todd County, Kentucky.  He was the only child born to Josephus G. Hall and Carrie Maude McGehee.  Harry was raised in Clifty, Todd County, Kentucky, where his father worked in a dry goods store.

Harry married Mona L. “Monie” Willis around 1911 in Todd County, Kentucky.  He was 20 years old and she was 16 years.  Monie was born on June 14, 1894 in Todd County, Kentucky, the daughter of Protice Willis and Georgia Ann Mayes.

Harry and Monie were the parents of at least seven children:

Mabel Hall                 born December 18, 1917
May Hall                    born November 3, 1922
Ruth Hall                   born October 12, 1924
Joe Gill Hall              born July 11, 1927

After their marriage, Harry and Monie settled their family in Clifty, Todd County, Kentucky, where they lived and worked on a farm.

Harry registered for the draft for the First World War on June 5, 1917 in Todd County, Kentucky.  He was described as of medium height and build, with dark hair and one brown eye and one blue eye.  Harry claimed exemption from the draft because he was caring for his parents, as well as his wife and children.  He did not serve in the war.

In 1930, Harry and Monie and their children were living on a farm on Clarksville and Greenville Road in Clifty, Todd County, Kentucky.

Mona L. Willis Hall died on May 8, 1942 in the Muhlenberg County Community Hospital in Greenville, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  The cause of death listed was “mesenteric thrombosis” and “intestinal rupture.”  Mona was buried in the Slaughter Cemetery in Clifty, Todd County, Kentucky.  She was 48 years old at her death.

Harry remarried thirty years later.  He married Myrtle Grace, a widow, on January 19, 1973 in Logan County, Kentucky.  He was 83 years old and she was 70 years.  Myrtle was born in 1902 in Court House, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, the daughter of Hugh F. Lee and Nettie M. Rust.

Harry Hall died nine years later, on March 26, 1982 in Grayson County, Kentucky.  He was laid to rest next to his first wife, Mona Willis Hall, in the Slaughter Cemetery in Clifty, Todd County, Kentucky.  Harry was 92 years old at his death.

Myrtle Lee (1902-1987)

Myrtle Lee was born in 1902 in Court House, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  She was the daughter of Hugh F. Lee and Nettie M. Rust.  Myrtle was raised on the family farm in Court House, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.

Myrtle married David Myers Crick around 1919 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  She was 17 years old and he was 31 years.  David was born on August 16, 1888 in Court House, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, the son of William Andrew Crick and Martha Jane Boggess.

Two years before his marriage, David registered for the draft for the First World War.  He registered in Muhlenberg County in June 1917.  At that time, David was working as a farmer.  He was described as tall, medium of build, with blue eyes and red hair.  David did not serve in the war.

After their marriage, David and Myrtle lived and worked on a farm in Court House, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.

David and Myrtle were the parents of four children:

Lenvil Jack Crick                  born September 6, 1920
Reva Nell Crick                    born June 3, 1922
Velma Louell Crick              born July 21, 1924
David Wendell Crick           born July 20, 1926

In 1930, David and Myrtle and their children were living on a farm on Long Creek Valley Road in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  David managed the farm and employed workers to keep it running.

By 1940, the Crick family was living and working on a farm on Highway 181 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.

David Myers Crick died on June 2, 1949 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  He died as a result of a tractor accident while working on his farm.  David was buried in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Greenville, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  He was 60 years old at his death.

Myrtle remarried later that same year to a neighbor who had lost his wife several years before.  She married Elbert Taylor Grace on December 13, 1949 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  This was Elbert’s second marriage as well.  Elbert was born on August 1, 1892 in Greenville, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, the son of David O. Grace and Missouri A. Cook.

Elbert Taylor Grace died on December 28, 1968 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  He was laid to rest beside his first wife, Annie, in the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Weir, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  Elbert was 76 years old at his death.

Myrtle remarried four years later to Harry Hall on January 19, 1973 in Logan County, Kentucky.  She was 70 years old and he was 83 years.  Harry was a widower from Todd County, Kentucky.  He was born on January 9, 1890 in Kentucky, the son of Josephus G. Hall and Carrie Maude McGehee.

Lois Ann Wells (1894-1949)

Lois Ann “Annie” Wells was born on August 22, 1894 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  She was the daughter of Jefferson Fontain Wells and Mattie Loutisha Johnston.  Annie was raised on the family farm in Court House, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.

Annie married Elbert Taylor Grace on July 2, 1911 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  She was 17 years old and he was 19 years.  Elbert was born on August 1, 1892 in Greenville, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, the son of David O. Grace and Missouri A. Cook.

Elbert and Annie were the parents of ten children:
