Reba Lydia Millhiser (1888-1963)

Reba Lydia Millhiser was born on January 29, 1888 in Ohio.  She was the daughter of Peter Millhiser and Abigail Lucinda Dine. 

In 1900, Reba’s family was living in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana, where her father worked as a bartender.

Reba married Harry Percy Stephens on April 16, 1906 in Wayne County, Indiana.  She was 18 years old and he was 21 years.  Harry was born on October 18, 1884 in Indiana, the son of Alonzo Stephens and Elizabeth Lankert.

After their marriage, Harry and Reba settled their family in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana.  Harry and Reba had two children:

Charles Peter Stephens     born August 24, 1906
James Keith Stephens       born November 23, 1911

In 1910, Harry and Reba were renting a house on Main Street in Richmond.  Harry was employed at a factory in Richmond, where he worked as a core-maker.

Harry registered for the draft for the First World War on September 12, 1918.  He was described as of medium height and build, with blue eyes and light hair.  He did not serve in the war.

In 1920, Harry and Reba were living on North E Street in Richmond, along with their two sons.

Harry and Reba separated sometime between 1920 and 1927.

Reba married Earl Burton Wickliffe on July 30, 1927 in Los Angeles County, California.  Earl was born on March 9, 1894 in Oklahoma, the son of Henry W. Wickliffe and Ida M. Burton.

In 1928, Reba was listed in the Alhambra, California City Directory with her second husband, Earl Burton Wickliffe. 

In 1930, Earl and Reba were living in a home on South Willard Street in San Gabriel, Los Angeles County, California.  Earl was employed as an office manager for an oil company.

Earl registered for the draft for World War II in 1942.  At that time, he and Reba were living at 1657 S. Ivar Street in Rosemead, Los Angeles County, California, where he was employed by the Valvoline Oil Company.  He was described as 5’11” tall, with blue eyes, blonde hair, and a light complexion.

Reba Lydia Millhiser Stephens Wickliffe died on August 16, 1963 in Los Angeles County, California.  She was buried in the Rose Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Whittier, Los Angeles County, California.  She was 75 years old at her death.

Earl Burton Wickliffe died June 13, 1974 in Seal Beach, Orange County, California.  Earl was buried near his wife in the Rose Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Whittier, Los Angeles County, California.  He was 80 years old at his death.

Harry Percy Stephens (1884-1955)

Harry Percy Stephens was born on October 18, 1884 in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana.  He was the son of Alonzo Stephens and Elizabeth Lankert.

In 1900, Harry’s family was living in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana, where his father worked as a bartender.

In 1930, Harry was living on Main Street in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana, where he continued his work as a core-maker at a foundry.  By 1935, he had moved into the Wayne County Infirmary.

Harry registered for the draft for World War II in 1942.  He listed his sister, Mrs. Tillie Essenessmach, as his next of kin.  He was described as 5’6” tall and 142 lbs, with blue eyes, brown hair, and a dark complexion.  He was also missing two fingers off his left hand.

Harry Percy Stephens died on March 3, 1955 in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana.  He was buried in the Earlham Cemetery in Richmond.  He was 70 years old at his death.

Earl Burton Wickliffe (1894-1974)

Earl Burton Wickliffe was born on March 9, 1894, most likely in Norman, Cleveland County, Oklahoma.  He was the second of three children born to Henry W. Wickliffe and Ida M. Burton.  In 1900, he was living with his parents in their home in Norman, Cleveland County, Oklahoma.

Earl registered for the draft for World War I on June 5, 1917 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.  At that time, he was employed as an automobile mechanic, working for the Dodge Brothers in Detroit.  He was described as tall, medium build, with blue eyes and light brown hair.  In 1920, Earl was living in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.  He was working as a carpenter.  Earl was a veteran of this war.
