James Bernard Holberg (1910-1980)

James Bernard Holberg


James Bernard Holberg was born July 23, 1910 in Port Arthur, Jefferson, Texas.  He was the fifth of six children born to Joseph Herman Holberg and Ruth Boggess. 

In 1930, James was living with his parents on West 20th Street in Houston, Harris County, Texas.  He was doing odd jobs as a painter’s assistant.

James married Edna Parker around 1933.  He was about 23 and she was around 22.  Edna was born July 10, 1911, probably in Texas.  After their marriage, James and Edna settled in Tom Green County, Texas.  They had at least three children:

            Margaret Jo               born September 26, 1935
            Dorothy Laura          born August 19, 1939
            Robert Dee                born August 23, 1946

James Bernard Holberg died on November 21, 1980 in San Angelo, Tom Green County, Texas at the age of 70 years.  Edna outlived her husband by seven years.  Edna Parker Holberg died in July 1987 in the same place.  She was 76 years old at her death.
