Minnie Englehart (1889-1969)


Minnie Englehart


Minnie Englehart was born December 10, 1889 in Posey County, Indiana.  She was the first of seven children born to John Englehart and Lillian B. Hendricks.  Minnie’s parents divorced sometime after 1902, and her mother married John Washington Luckett on November 23, 1908 in Vanderburgh County, Indiana. 

On November 8, 1909, Minnie married Barney Albert Robertson in Posey County, Indiana.  He was 24 years old, and she was just one month shy of 20 years.  Barney was born on March 11, 1886 in Indiana. 

Just five months after their marriage, Barney and Minnie were renting a house on West Kinley Street in Shawnee, Gallatin County, Illinois.  However, they spent most of their lives living in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana.  By 1930, they had the following ten children:

Barney registered for the draft for World War I on September 11, 1918 in Evansville.  At that time, he was working as a brakeman for the C & El Railroad Company.  He was described as tall and slender, with grey eyes and black hair.  Barney continued his employment as a brakeman at least until 1930.

Barney Albert Robertson died on March 20, 1961.  At that time, he was living at 2033 Bellemead in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana.  He was 75 years old at his death.  Minnie survived her husband by eight years.  She died on March 22, 1969 in the same county.  She was 79 years old at her death.  Barney and Minnie had been members of the Redeemer Lutheran congregation in Evansville.
