Mamie B. Boggess (1890- )


Mamie B. Boggess

Mamie B. Boggess was born in July 1890 in Galla Creek Township, Pope County, Arkansas.  She was the second of four children born to William Clarence Boggess and Dora A. Reed.  Mamie was raised on the family farm located on the Little Rock Fort Smith Highway in Galla Creek, Pope County, Arkansas.  The family farm was located near the farms of her grandparents, Charles and Isabella Boggess, and her Uncle Haise Boggess.

In 1913, Mamie married Alexander Reece Henry.  She was 24 and he was 25 years old.  Reece was born on July 9, 1888 in Russellville, Pope County, Arkansas, the son of Charles W. Henry and Bertha Lavina Houser.

On June 5, 1917, Reece registered for service in World War I with his brother-in-law, Earl S. Boggess.  He was a farmer at that time, living with his wife and child in Pottsville.  He was of medium height and build, with brown eyes and dark brown hair.

Reece and Mamie raised their family in Wilson, Pope County, Arkansas, where Reece was a farmer.  They had two children in 1930:  Nina G., born in 1916 and Betty S., born in 1925. 

Alexander Reece Henry died on October 1, 1966 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.  His last place of residence was in Garden Grove, Orange County, California.  He was 78 years old at his death.
