Jacob Aspasia Johnston (1877-1960)

Jacob Aspasia Johnston

Jacob Aspasia Johnston was born November 10, 1877 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  He was the second of five children known to be born to Joseph Finis Johnston and Elizabeth Jane Boggess.  It would seem he was named after his mother’s uncle, Aspasia William Earle.  Jacob was raised on the family farm in Court House, Muhlenberg County.

Jacob married Bertha Bivins in May 1900 in Court House, Muhlenberg County.  He was 22 years old and she was 15 years.  Bertha was born September 14, 1884 in Kentucky, the daughter of Andrew F. Bivins and Martha Ann Johnston.

Jacob and Bertha had one child, Edith Larine Johnston, who was born April 9, 1905.

After their marriage, Jacob and Bertha established their home on a farm in Court House, Muhlenberg County.  Jacob labored as a farmer until 1930, when he was employed as an Auto Salesman.

Edith Larine Johnston died of pneumonia on June 3, 1933 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  She was buried in Cherry Grove Cemetery in Weir, Muhlenberg County.  She was 28 years old at her death.

Jacob Aspasia Johnston died on December 6, 1960 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.  He was 83 years old at his death.

Bertha Bivins Johnston died twelve years later on January 14, 1973, also in Muhlenberg.  She was 87 years old.  Jacob and Bertha were buried in Cherry Grove Cemetery in Weir, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.
