James Hanna Ragsdale
James Hanna Ragsdale was born on April 9, 1911 in Pottsville, Pope County, Arkansas. He was the second son and fifth child born to Excelsior and Emma Ragsdale. In 1930, James was attending school and living with his parents on Washington Street in Illinois, Pope County, Arkansas.
James Hanna Ragsdale died on January 21, 2002 at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville, Pope County Arkansas. He was 90 years old at his death. The following is a copy of his obituary:
Rev. James Ragsdale, age 90, a resident of Russellville, Arkansas, died Thursday, January 31, 2002 at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, Arkansas. He was born on April 9, 1911 in Russellville, Arkansas, to Excelsior and Emma Susan (Oates) Ragsdale. His grandfather, Rev. Monroe Oates was pastor of the Pottsville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church from 1858 - 1900. He was a retired Presbyterian Minister and a member of the Pottsville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Glen Ragsdale and three sisters, Louie Ragsdale Griffin, Evelyn Ragsdale Williams and Margaret Ragsdale Ragon. Rev. Ragsdale is survived by his Brother, William Oates Ragsdale of Russellville, Arkansas; four Nieces; three Nephews and a number of Great-nieces & nephews and Great-Great-Nieces & Nephews.
Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Monday, February 4, 2002 at the Pottsville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Edward Fleagle and Rev. Thomas Morris. Burial will be at the Pisgah Cemetery at Pottsville, Arkansas. The family will receive friends from 3-5 P.M. Sunday at Humphrey Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Pottsville, P.O. Box 156, Pottsville, Arkansas.
