John Franklin Wynn Torry (1875- )


John Franklin Wynn Torry was born February 3, 1875 in Rapides County, Louisiana.  He was the son of Lycurgus Eugene Torry and Sarah AnnBoggus. He was raised in Grant County, Louisiana.

John married Mattie Eleanor Jackson about 1905 in Louisiana.  He was 33 years old and she was 24 years.  Mattie was born around 1882 in Louisiana.  They had at least one child:

            John H.          born 1907

John registered for the draft for World War I on September 12, 1918 in Monroe, Ouachita County, Louisiana.  At that time, he and his family were living in Monroe and John was employed as a teamster for the Grayling Lumber Company.  He was described as of medium height, stout build, with brown eyes and dark hair.  He did not serve in the war.

By 1930, John and Mattie had relocated to East Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where they rented a house.  John was employed as a carpenter for a gas refining plant.
