Edna E. Crump (1885-1965)

Edna E. Crump was born February 28, 1885, in Grant County, Louisiana.  She was the daughter of John Franklin Crump and Frances Lorena Boggus.  She was raised in Grant County, Louisiana, and Jones County, Texas.

Edna married Eunice Quincy Smith around 1903 in Jones County, Texas.  Edna was about 18 years old and Eunice was around 21 years.  Eunice was born on August 5, 1882 in Texas, the son of William Henry Smith and Mollie Gassaway.  Eunice and Edna had three children:
           
            Verna L.         born 1904
            Nora M.          born 1907
            Etherine         born 1909

In 1910, Eunice and Edna and their children were living on a farm in Jones County, Texas, where Eunice labored on the farm.

Eunice and Edna divorced sometime between 1910 and 1918.  After the divorce, Eunice went to Wichita County, Texas.  Edna and the children went to live with her family in Jones County.

Eunice registered for the draft for the First World War on September 12, 1918.  At that time, he was employed as a carpenter for Taylor Brothers in Witchita County, Texas.  He was described as of medium height and slender build, with blue eyes and brown hair.

Eunice Quincy Smith died on September 9, 1958 in Olton, Lamb County, Texas.  He died one month after his 76th birthday.

Edna remarried around 1922.  She married John Clifford Olney, born September 25, 1893 in Texas, the son of John G. Olney and Sarah E. Huffman.  John and Edna had one child:
           
            John Clifford, Jr.      born May 18, 1923

In 1930, John and Edna were living in a home in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas.  John was working for the railroad at that time.

John Clifford Olney died on October 2, 1960 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas at the age of 67 years.  The causes of death listed were diabetes and heart attack. 

After the death of her husband, Edna found employment as a hotel proprietor in Houston. 

Edna E. Crump Smith Olney died on April 5, 1965 in Houston, Harris County, Texas, due to coronary thrombosis.  She was 80 years old at her death.

  1. Hi, my husband is a descendent of Eunice Quincy Smith. Thank you for posting. I didn't realize "Eddie's" name was actually Edna. Do you happen to have any pictures of Eunice or Edna?
