Mary E. “Mollie” Bonds was born on April 4, 1862 in Dover, Pope County, Arkansas.  She was the daughter of Reverend George J. Bonds and Celia Herrin.  Mollie was raised in Pope County, Arkansas, where her father was a clergyman.

Mollie’s mother died in 1868, when Mollie was just 8 years old.  Her father remarried the next year to Mary Ann Weimer, and then died four months later.  Mollie and her siblings were farmed out to friends and neighbors after the death of their parents.

In 1870, Mollie and her older brother, George, were living with their cousin, James Clark Bonds, and his wife and children in their home in Dover, Pope County, Arkansas.

Mollie married James E. Wright on January 27, 1880 in Logan County, Arkansas.  She was 17 years old and he was 23 years.  James was born on May 18, 1856 in Scott County, Arkansas, the son of Dr. Dewitt Clinton Wright and Amanda Rector Logan.

James and Mollie were the parents of ten children:

Rue Clinton Wright                         born December 11, 1880
James Robert Wright                       born November 14, 1883
George Logan Wright                      born December 14, 1885
Ernest C. “Frank” Wright                 born September 4, 1887
Mary Francis “Fannie” Wright        born November 19, 1890
Victor Columbus Wright                 born August 22, 1894
William Edward “Willie” Wright      born November 14, 1896
Celia A. Wright                                 born March 13, 1898
Lydia Wright                                      born January 1900
Mattie Bernice Wright                      born June 10, 1901

Seven of their children lived to adulthood.  James Robert Wright lived just nine months.  He died on August 24, 1884 and was buried in the Lick Creek Cemetery in Booneville, Logan County, Arkansas.  Celia A. Wright died on September 9, 1900 at the age of 2 ½ years.  Lydia was listed in the 1900 US Census, however she was missing in the 1910 US Census, suggesting that she died sometime between 1900 and 1910.

After their marriage, James and Mollie made their home on a farm in Petit Jean, Logan County, Arkansas.  Together, they worked the land and raised their children.

In 1910, James and Mollie and their children were living and working on a farm on Long Ridge Road in Revilee, Logan County, Arkansas.  James and Mollie stayed on that farm at least until 1920.

Mary E. “Mollie” Bonds Wright died on May 7, 1935 in Oklahoma.  She was buried in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Elk City, Beckham County, Oklahoma.  She was 73 years old at her death.

After the death of his wife, James moved in with his married daughter, Fannie Scott, and her husband.  They lived on a farm in West Turkey Creek, Washita County, Oklahoma.

James E. Wright died on November 26, 1940 in Elk Creek, Beckham County, Oklahoma.  He was laid to rest beside his wife in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Elk Creek. James was 84 years old at his death.
