George Bonds (1860-1921)

George Bonds was born in April 1860 in Dover, Pope County, Arkansas.  He was the son of Reverend George J. Bonds and CeliaHerrin.  George was raised in Pope County, Arkansas, where his father was a clergyman.

George’s mother died in 1868, when George was just 8 years old.  His father remarried the next year to Mary Ann Weimer, and then died four months later.  George and his siblings were farmed out to friends and neighbors after the death of their parents. 

In 1870, George and his younger sister, Mollie, were living with their cousin, James Clark Bonds, and his wife and children in their home in Dover, Pope County, Arkansas.

George Bonds died on October 29, 1921 in Berwyn, Carter County, Oklahoma.  He was 61 years old at his death.
