John Edgar Stevenson (1827-1900)

John Edgar Stevenson was born January 5, 1827 in Bracken County, Kentucky.  He was the son of Stephen Stevenson and Fanny Proctor.  John was raised on the family farm in Bracken County.

John married Mary Ann Scholes September 16, 1851 in Bracken County, Kentucky.  He was 24 years old and she was 18 years.  Mary was born June 8, 1833 in Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky, the daughter of William Scholes and Amanda Powell.

After their marriage, John and Mary settled their family in Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky, where John worked as a doctor.  The couple had seven children:

William Byrd               born January 11, 1853

Henry Clay                  born February 13, 1855 

John S.                        born September 12, 1857

Edgar E.                      born September 5, 1860

Lorena                         born 1864

Charles M.                  born December 31, 1864

James                         born April 5, 1868

In 1900, John and Mary were living in a home on Wright Street in Covington County, Kentucky.  Living with them, were their sons, Charles and John, and their granddaughter, Ethel.

John Edgar Stevenson died at home on September 19, 1900 in Covington.  He was 73 years old at his death.  John was buried in Highland Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, Kenton County, Kentucky. 

Mary Ann Scholes Stevenson died on January 30, 1917 in Covington, at the age of 84 years.  She was also buried in Highland Cemetery.
