Samuel Lewis Rice was
born in 1793 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky.
He was the son of Claibourne Rice and Lucy Blanton.
Samuel
married Clarissa Moore on May 1, 1818 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. He was 25 years old and she was 21
years. Clarissa was born in 1797 in
Muhlenberg County, the daughter of Maurice and Margaret Moore.
After
their marriage, Samuel and Clarissa settled five children:

Clarissa
Moore Rice died around 1830 in Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky. She was in her early thirties at her
death.
Samuel
remarried three years after the death of his first wife. He married Jane Morrow on December 12, 1833
in Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky.
He was 40 years old and she was 22 years. Jane was born in 1811 in Muhlenberg County,
Kentucky.

and Jane had six children:

Samuel
Lewis Rice died in 1864 in McCracken County, Kentucky. He was buried in the Rice Family Cemetery in
Massac, McCracken County, Kentucky. He
was 71 years old at his death.
After
the death of her husband, Jane lived with her daughter, Sarah Nichols, and her
family in their home in McCracken County.
By 1880, she was living with her daughter, Martha Bradley, and her
family in McCracken County.
