George B. Murphy (1859-1915)

George B. Murphy was born on May 18, 1859 in Boone County, Kentucky.  He was the youngest of three children born to James Murphy and Mary Ann Stevenson.  George was raised on the family farm in Boone County, Kentucky.

George married Catherine Doyle on November 1, 1899 in Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky.  He was 40 years old and she was 32 years.  Catherine was born in September 1867 in Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky, the niece of Patrick and Ellen Corcoran.

After their marriage, George and Catherine made their home in Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky, where George was employed as a grocer.  The couple had two sons:

George Brazier Murphy          born September 22, 1905

Catherine Doyle Murphy died sometime between 1905 and 1910.  George was listed as a widow in the 1910 US Census.

George B. Murphy died on October 1, 1915 in Compton, Kenton County, Kentucky.  The cause of death listed on his death certificate was a “cerebral tumor.”  He was 57 years old at his death.
