Grace Adkins was born November 20, 1887 in Boggess, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. She was the youngest of four children born to Martelle Adkins and Harriet Artesia Wickliffe. She was raised on the family farm in Boggess.
Grace married William Henry Feiler on December 29, 1909 in Madisonville, Kentucky. She was 22 years old and he was 25 years. William was born on December 11, 1884 in Kentucky, the son of Frederick G. Feiler and Cinderella Laffoon. They were the parents of three children:

William born in 1914
Charlie born in 1928
William registered for the draft for World War I on September 12, 1918. At that time, he and Grace were living in Clay, Webster County, Kentucky, where William was employed as a bookkeeper for the West Kentucky Coal Company. He was described as a tall man, of medium build, with grey eyes and dark hair.
By 1920, the Feiler family was living in a home on Adams Street in Sturgis, Union County, Kentucky. William was employed as a shipping clerk for a coal company. They moved to Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky by 1930, where William continued his employment as a shipping clerk for a coal yard.
William Henry Feiler died on June 5, 1955 in Paducah, McCracken County, Kentucky. He was 67 years old at his death. Grace outlived her husband by almost 17 years. Grace Adkins Feiler died on May 7, 1972, at the age of 84, in the same city.
