Celia A. Boggess (1885- )

Celia A. Boggess

 
Celia A. Boggess was born in December 1885, probably in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri.  She was the eldest of nine children born to Earle Montrose Boggess and Hattie A. Gaugh. 

On December 27, 1909, Celia married Julian Western Obear in Excelsior Springs, Clay County, Missouri.  She was 24 years old and he was 30 years.  Julian was born on December 21, 1879 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of William Frank Obear and Elsie Underwood Henry.

In 1910, the newlyweds were renting a room at the Rosalind Hotel on Forest Avenue in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri.  Julian was employed as a glass worker at the Ober-Nestor Glass Company, located just across the Mississippi River, in East St. Louis, Illinois.

Julian enlisted with the U.S. Army in 1905 and then enlisted for service in the first World War on September 9, 1918.  He and Celia were living at 3504 Gillham Road in Kansas City, Missouri at that time. 

Julian enlisted for service in World War II on April 27, 1942, while he was living in Seattle, Washington.  He was 6’2”, 190 lbs, with a light complexion, brown eyes, and grey hair.  He was working for L.J. Pfister, located in Cleveland, Ohio, and traveling between California, Oregon, and Washington.  His personal contact was his wife’s sister, Mrs. C.E. Mains in Berkely, California.

Julian Western Obear died on January 25, 1945 in Seattle, Washington at the age of 62.
