Rachel A. Boggess
Daughter of Edmond Dargan Boggess & Mary E. Armstrong
Rachel A. Boggess was born on November 13,
1918, in Butler County, Kentucky. She
was the only child known to be born to Mary Elizabeth Sheridan Armstrong,
however she was the eighth child born to Edmond D. Boggess. Rachel was raised as the daughter of a
clergyman, and thus moved several times with her family during her youth.
She was living with her parents on a farm in Greenville,
Muhlenberg, Kentucky in 1930, where she was attending school.
After the death of her father in 1938, Rachel and her mother moved
to Jefferson County, Kentucky. They
lived with her mother’s sister, Fannie Armstrong. In 1940, Rachel was employed as a
stenographer.
Rachel never married. She
lived the remainder of her life in Jefferson County, Kentucky.
Rachel A. Boggess died on February 1, 1997 in Louisville,
Jefferson County, Kentucky. She was 78
years old at her death.
