Katie Sellars (1882-1920)

Katie Sellars was born on August 30, 1882 in Harrison County, Kentucky.  She was the daughter of John Henry Sellars and Dallas Roberts

After the death of her mother, Katie continued to live with her father and brother, John Davis, on their rented farm in Harrison County, Kentucky.  When her father died in 1912, John Davis took over the farm.  He and Katie lived there, with the addition of their half-brother, Howard Humphrey.

Katie Sellars died on November 30, 1920 in Harrison County, Kentucky.  She was 38 years old at her death.  The cause of death was myocarditis.  Katie never married.

John Davis Sellars (1889-1942)

John Davis Sellars was born on October 28, 1889 in Harrison County, Kentucky.  He was the son of John Henry Sellars and Zerelda Eckler.

On June 5, 1917, John registered for the draft for World War I in Harrison County.  Both of his parents had died by that time, and he was living in Richland, Harrison County, with his sister, Katie, and his half-brother, Howard Humphrey.  John and Howard worked as farm laborers.  John was described as tall and slender, with brown hair and eyes.

In 1930, John was boarding with Howard and his wife, Mae, in their home in Richland. 

John Davis Sellars died on April 3, 1942 in McKenneysburg, Pendleton County, Kentucky.  He died as a result of a heart attack at 52 years of age.

Howard Hamilton Humphrey (1878-1950)

Howard Hamilton Humphrey was born on September 28, 1878 in Harrison County, Kentucky.  He was the son of Enoch Humphrey and Zerelda D. Eckler

In 1910, Howard was working for Jefferson D. Woolery in McKennysburg, Pendleton County, Kentucky.  He was employed as a hired hand, doing general farm labor.   

On September 12, 1918, Howard registered for the draft for the First World War.  At that time, he was working as a farm laborer for Anna Moore in Harrison County.  He was described as tall and slender, with brown eyes and hair.

Howard married L. Mae Pollard on February 19, 1920 in Richland, Harrison County, Kentucky.  He was 42 years old and she was 37 years.  Mae was born on May 19, 1882 in Harrison County, the daughter of Thomas Henry Pollard and Susan Parker. 

After their marriage, the couple rented a home in Richland, where Howard continued work as a farm laborer.  Howard’s half-brother, John Davis Sellars, was living with them in 1930.

Howard Hamilton Humphrey died on June 15, 1950 in Harrison County.  The cause of death listed was a cerebral hemorrhage.  He was 71 years old at his death. 

L. Mae Pollard Humphrey died two years later, on August 19, 1952 in the same place.  She also died of a cerebral hemorrhage.  She was 70 years old at her death.
