Earl Burton Wickliffe
Earl Burton Wickliffe was born on March 9, 1894,
most likely in Norman, Cleveland County, Oklahoma. He was the second of
three children born to Henry W. Wickliffe and Ida M. Burton. In 1900, he
was living with his parents in their home in Norman, Cleveland County,
Oklahoma.
Earl registered for the draft for World War I on June 5, 1917 in
Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. At that time, he was employed as an
automobile mechanic, working for the Dodge Brothers in Detroit. He was
described as tall, medium build, with blue eyes and light brown hair. In
1920, Earl was living in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. He was working as
a carpenter. Earl was a veteran of this war.
Earl
married Reba Lydia Millhiser Stephens on July 30, 1927 in Los Angeles County, California.
This was Reba’s second marriage.
She was born on January 29, 1888 in Ohio, the daughter of Peter
Millhiser and Abigail Lucinda Dine.
In 1928,
Reba was listed in the Alhambra, California City Directory with her second
husband, Earl Burton Wickliffe.
In
1930, Earl and Reba were living in a home on South Willard Street in San
Gabriel, Los Angeles County, California.
Earl was employed as an office manager for an oil company.
Earl
registered for the draft for World War II in 1942. At that time, he and Reba were living at 1657
S. Ivar Street in Rosemead, Los Angeles County, California, where he was
employed by the Valvoline Oil Company.
He was described as 5’11” tall, with blue eyes, blonde hair, and a light
complexion.
Reba
Lydia Millhiser Stephens Wickliffe died on August 16, 1963 in Los Angeles
County, California. She was buried in
the Rose Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Whittier, Los Angeles County,
California. She was 75 years old at her
death.
Earl
Burton Wickliffe died June 13, 1974 in Seal Beach, Orange County,
California. Earl was buried near his
wife in the Rose Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Whittier, Los Angeles County,
California. He was 80 years old at his
death.
