John M. Luckett, III was born in1868 in Boggess, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. He was the third of six children born to John M. Luckett and Sarah Catherine Wickliffe. He was raised on the family farm in Boggess.
John M. Luckett died on December 27, 1904 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, at the age of 36. Just before his death, he had been employed as a bridge carpenter. The cause of death was gangrene. John is buried in the Geibel Cemetery in Muhlenberg.
