William Abslay Crump was born April 19, 1892, in Grant County, Louisiana. He was the son of John Franklin Crump and Frances Lorena Boggus. He was raised in Grant County, Louisiana, and Jones County, Texas.
William registered for the draft for the First World War on June 5, 1917 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. He was employed as a cook in a café at that time and was described as of medium height and build, with brown eyes and black hair. He was a veteran of the war.
In 1920, William was living in a home in Stamford, along with three of his brothers, (Oliver, Charles, and Lou) and his sister, Edna, and her two children. William and his brothers were employed as cooks in a café in Stamford.
William Abslay Crump died on July 2, 1959 in Houston, Harris County, Texas. The cause of death listed was a heart attack. He was 67 years old at his death.
