Amanda “Nettie” Antionette Torry was born in December 1868 in Rapides County, Louisiana. She was the daughter of Lycurgus Eugene Torry and Sarah Ann Boggus. She was raised in Grant County, Louisiana.
Nettie married Houston Steen Morris around 1895 in Pollock, Grant County, Louisiana. She was 25 years old and he was 26 years. Houston was born in February 1869 in Wynn County, Louisiana, the son of Darling Pinkney Morris and Serena Eleanor Steen. Houston and Nettie had six children:

In 1900, Houston and Nettie were living in a home next to Nettie’s father and step-mother and their family in Pollock, Grant County, Louisiana. Houston was employed as a day laborer at that time. By 1910, the family had moved to a house in La Salle County, Lousiana.
Amanda Antionette Torry Morris died on November 3, 1920 in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana. She was 52 years old at her death.
Houston Steen Morris died on December 14, 1922 in Allen County, Lousiana at the age of 56 years.
