Francis “Lou” Crump was born February 1, 1903, in Stamford, Jones County, Louisiana. He was the son of John Franklin Crump and Frances Lorena Boggus. He was raised in Grant County, Louisiana, and Jones County, Texas.
After the death of his mother, Lou was sent to a neighboring family to be raised. He lived with Charles Wesley and Sarah Stevenson in Jones County, Texas. Lou was living on their farm in 1910.
By 1920, Lou was living in a home in Stamford, along with three of his brothers, (Oliver, Charles, and William) and his sister, Edna, and her two children. Lou and his brothers were employed as cooks in a café in Stamford.
From his death certificate, we learn that Lou was a veteran of World War II. We also learn that he married Ollie Bernice Gipson. Ollie was born on June 10, 1909 in Collins County, Texas, the daughter of John H. Gipson and Bertie Sloan Guffey.
Francis Lou Crump died on Christmas Day, December 25, 1968 in Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas. The cause of death was a myocardial infarction, or heart attack. He was 65 years old at his death.
Ollie Bernice Gipson Crump died on May 25, 1976 in the same place as her husband. She was 66 years old at her death.
