Joel Boggess (1768- )

Joel Boggess was born about 1768, probably in Fairfax County or Fauquier County, Virginia.  He was the first child born to Richard H. Boggess and Nancy (Ann) Smith.

Joel would have married about 1790 in Virginia or North Carolina.  The children I have found for this family are:

            Boy     born between 1795 – 1800
            Girl      born between 1795 – 1800
            Boy     born between 1800 – 1810  -  LeRoy Boggess        born 1809
            Girl      born between 1800 – 1810
            Girl      born between 1800 – 1810  -  Susan Boggess       born 1804
            Girl      born between 1804 – 1810  -  Polly Boggess          born 1808
            Boy     born between 1810 – 1815  -  Peter Boggess          born 1811
            Boy     born between 1810 – 1815  -  Robert D. Boggess  born 1813
            Boy     born between 1810 – 1820
            Girl      born between 1815 – 1820  -  Tabitha Boggess      born 1815

I am not sure where Joel is around 1820.  He wasn’t in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky to sign for the will of his mother who died in 1819, but he had someone there to represent him.  Obviously he was still alive, but where was he and his family?

I did find a Joel Bogus in Illinois in 1820; however I could not find the census image he was on.  Page 294

I also found a Joel Boggess in Missouri in 1830.  This household seems to match the Joel Boggess household I was looking for, but I have no absolute proof it is the right one.
