Charles Clinton Hanna

Son of William Samuel Hanna & Alice Myrtle Smith

Charles Clinton Hanna was born on January 9, 1886 in Conway County, Arkansas.  Son of W.S. Hanna and Alice Boggess, he was the youngest of the Hanna children who lived to adulthood. 

Charles enlisted for service in World War I on September 12, 1918 in Conway, Arkansas.  At that time he was working as a clerk for E.E. Mitchell & Co., the same furniture store that his elder brother, Lewis, worked for.  In 1920 he was employed as a druggist.  Charles was short and slender in build, with blue eyes and black hair.  There is no marriage record for Charles.

Charles Clinton Hanna died on February 18, 1946 in Conway County, Arkansas.  He died just a little over a month after his 60^th birthday.

Lewis Bennett Hanna (1883-1940)

Lewis Bennett Hanna was born on February 25, 1883 in Conway County, Arkansas.  He was the second child born to W.S. Hanna, but the third child of Alice Boggess. 

Lewis married Daisy Victoria Brown in 1908 in Conway County.  He was around 25 years old and she was about 21 years.  Daisy was born on March 14, 1887 in Arkansas, the daughter of Miles Brown and Mary Ellenor Bell.  

Lewis and Daisy had one son, Fredrick Byron Hanna, who was born in Conway County in 1909.

Along with his brothers, Lewis also enlisted in World War I on September 12, 1918.  He was 35 years old at that time, and was working as a clerk at E.E. Mitchell & Co., a furniture store in there in Morrilton.  He was of medium height and slender in build, with grey eyes and black hair.  Lewis and his family lived on St. Joseph Street in Morrilton in 1930.

                       

Lewis Bennett Hanna died on June 24, 1940 in Mississippi County, Arkansas.  He was 57 years old.  Daisy went on to live another four decades after her husband’s death.  Daisy V. Hanna died at the age of 93 in July 1980.  Her last known residence was Fayetteville, Washington County, Arkansas.

William A. Hanna was born in September 1880 in Conway County, Arkansas.  The only information about William can be found in the 1900 census.  At that time he was living with his mother, sister, and three brothers in Morrilton, Conway County, Arkansas.

James Dudley Hanna (1878-1936)

James Dudley Hanna

Son of William Samuel Hanna & Alice Myrtle Smith

James Dudley Hanna was born on October 9, 1878 in Conway County, Arkansas.  He was the first child born to W.S., but the second born to Alice, as she had one daughter from a previous marriage. 

On September 12, 1918, James registered for military service during World War I.  At that time he was working as a Millerwright for the Morrilton Cotton Oil Company located in Morrilton, Conway, Arkansas.  He was of medium height and build, and had brownish eyes and black hair. 

James was living in Morrilton with his mother and younger brother, Charles, in 1920.  He was a self-employed carpenter at that time.  There is no marriage record for James, and he is not found in the 1910 or 1930 census.

James Dudley Hanna died on April 28, 1936 in Conway County, Arkansas at the age of 57 years.

Viola Isabelle Boggess (1872-1963)

Viola Isabelle Boggess was born on October 2, 1872 in Conway County, Arkansas.  She was the only child born to James Cicero Boggess & Alice Myrtle Smith.  Her father died just a few months after she was born.  Viola’s mother remarried a few years later to William Samuel Hanna.

In 1900, Viola was living with her widowed mother in Morrilton, Conway County, Arkansas.  She was working as a school teacher at that time. 

Viola married John Henry Pitchford, a widower, on January 4, 1914, in Sebastian County, Arkansas.  She was 35 years old and he was 56 years.  John was born on March 8, 1857 in Walhalla, Oconee County, South Carolina, the son of John Wesley Pitchford and Nancy Margaret Neville.

           

In 1920, John and Viola were renting a home at 502 East 13^th Street in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma.  John was the Chief Justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

John Henry Pitchford died on March 2, 1923 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma.  He was buried next to his first wife, Lola, in the Tahlequah Cemetery in Tahlequah, Cherokee County, Oklahoma.  He was 65 years old at his death.

In 1930, Viola was living in a home valued at $7,000 on 9^th Street in Oklahoma City.  At that time, she was working as an assistant librarian in the Oklahoma State.  Also in her household were three other women, who were all employed as public school teachers.  Viola remained in Oklahoma City for the remainder of her life.

Viola Isabelle Boggess Pitchford died in June 1963 in Oklahoma City at the age of 91 years.  She was buried near her mother and step-father in the Elmwood Cemetery in Morrilton, Conway County, Arkansas.

William Clarence Boggess (1866-1920?)

William Clarence Boggess

William Clarence Boggess was born in October 1866 in Arkansas, probably in either Conway or Pope County.  He was the youngest of seven children born to Charles Haise Bogges and Isabella C. Martin.  His mother died when he was nine years old and his father remarried a year later.

William married Dora A. Reed on December 15, 1886 in Pope County, Arkansas.  Both William and Dora were around 20 years old at their marriage.  Like her husband, Dora was also born in October 1866 in Arkansas.

William and his bride settled on a farm near the family of his older brother, Arthur, and his father and step-mother, in Galla Creek Township, Pope County, Arkansas.  In 1910, William worked as a Retail Merchant in a General Store, probably in the same store that his brother, Arthur, worked.  In 1920, William was an employer of a general farm, where he worked with his son, Ben.

William and Dora had four children as follows:

         Mamie B.                   born July 1890

         Annie J.                     born May 1895

         Ben Charles              born September 29, 1899

In 1930, Dora was living with her youngest son, Ben, and his wife in El Reno, Canadian County, Oklahoma.  She was a widow at that time, entailing that her husband, William, died sometime between 1920 and 1930.

Richard E. Boggess was born on October 15, 1864 in Arkansas, probably in either Conway or Pope County.  He was the sixth child born to Charles Haise Bogges and Isabella C. Martin.  Richard lived only two months.  He died on December 12, 1864.
