Ida Florence Overton was
born on February 25, 1870 in Jasper County, Indiana. She was the daughter of James Parker Overton
and Charity Ellen Guinn.
Ida married
Virgil Vaughan Nowels on December 21, 1890 in Jasper County, Indiana. He was 19 years old and she was 20
years. Virgil was born on March 16, 1871
in Jasper County, Indiana. He was the
son of John Wesley Nowels and Mercy Paine Hopkins.

1900, Virgil and Ida and their children were living in a home on Glover Avenue
in Bloom, Cook County, Illinois. Virgil
was employed as a stationary engineer at that time.
Virgil
and Ida moved their family to Colorado around 1905. At that time, they were living at 1211 Beulah
Avenue in Pueblo, Colorado, and Virgil was employed as an engineer.
By
1910, Virgil and Ida had divorced, and Ida was living with her children in a
home on Palmer Avenue in Pueblo, Colorado.
Virgil was also living in Pueblo, and working as a machinist for a zinc
smelter.
In
1930, Ida and her daughter were living in Newtown, Sullivan County,
Missouri. Her daughter, Ida May, was
employed as a teacher at a public school.
Ida
and her daughter were living in Makon County, Missouri in 1935, and had moved
into a home on Locust Street in Boonville, Cooper County, Missouri by
1940. Ida May was providing for herself
and her mother by teaching at a high school.
In
1942, Ida was living at 514 E. Oak Avenue in Los Angeles, California. She lived in California for the remainder of
her life.
Ida
Florence Overton Nowels died on December 5, 1947 in Los Angeles County,
California. She was buried in Inglewood
Park Cemetery in Inglewood, Los Angeles County, California. She was 77 years old at her death.
