Henry Cornelius “Neal” Barron was
born on October 9, 1879 in Rapides Parrish, Louisiana. He was the son of Riley Eugene Barron and Alice Laurette Nugent.
Henry
married Alma J. Holland in August 1908 in Rapides County, Louisiana. He was 28 years old and she was 19
years. Alma was born in February 1888 in
Lee County, Alabama, the daughter of John M. Holland and Emma Golden.
In
1910, Henry and Alma were renting a home on Montgomery Avenue in Winn Parrish, Louisiana. Henry was working as a bookkeeper for the La
Saw Mill Company.
Henry
registered for the draft for the First World War on September 12, 1918 in
Alexandria, Rapides Parrish, Louisiana.
He was described as tall and stout, with blue eyes and dark hair. Henry did not serve in the war.
In
1920, the couple was living in a home in Spring Hill, Rapides Parrish,
Louisiana.
Alma
J. Holland Barron died on January 17, 1922 in Calcasieu Parrish,
Louisiana. She was just a few weeks shy
of her 34th birthday.
By
1930, Henry was listed as a boarder in a place on Third Street in Alexandria,
Rapides Parrish, Louisiana. He was
employed as a laborer at a lumber mill at that time.
In
1942, Henry registered for the draft for World War II. At that time, he was living in Gold Dust,
Avoyelles Parrish, Louisiana. He listed
his sister, Mrs. J.P. Lacroix, of Pineville, Louisiana, as his next of kin.
Henry
Cornelius Barron died on October 18, 1945.
He was buried in the Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Pineville,
Rapides Parrish, Louisiana. He was 66
years old at his death.
