William Glenn Monroe Ragsdale
William Glenn Monroe Ragsdale was born on September 22, 1900 in Pottsville, Pope County, Arkansas. He was the second child born to Excelsior and Emma Ragsdale. He was known by his middle name, Glenn. However, in the 1910 Census, he is listed as Monroe. He was presumably named after his paternal grandfather, Reverend Monroe Oates.
In 1930, Glen was living with his parents on Washington Street in Illinois, Pope County, Arkansas. He was a farmer by trade.
Glen married Lorene Priddy in 1930. He was 30 years old and she was about 23. Lorene was born on October 20, 1907 in Danville, Beinville, Louisiana. They were the parents of four children: Arthur Buril, William Glen, Evelyn, and Marian.
William Glen Monroe Ragsdale died in November 1986 in Newellton, Tensas County, Louisiana. He was 86 years old at his death. Lorene went on to live another 24 years after her husband’s death. She died on November 29, 2005 at the age of 98.

Lorene Priddy Ragsdale, 98, of Newellton, La., died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at Richland Manor Nursing Home in Delhi, La.
Born Oct. 20, 1907, at Danville, she was the daughter of the late Judge A.B. and Augusta Priddy, a graduate of Galloway Women’s College (now Hendrix College) in 1929. She taught school for one year and married Glen Monroe Ragsdale in 1930. They moved to Tensas Parish, La., in 1937 to farm Raritan Plantation located on the banks of Lake Saint Joseph at Newellton. She was very active in Newellton Union Church teaching a ladies’ Sunday school class for 10 years. She was a founding member of the Delta Art Association serving as the organization’s first president.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two grandsons, Keith Wood and Neil Wood; and five brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Arthur Buril Ragsdale and wife, Lorraine, of Dallas, Texas, and William Glen Ragsdale and wife, Janet, of Newellton; two daughters, Evelyn Russell and husband, Raymond, of Delhi, La.; and Marian Mulligan and husband, James, of Newellton; seven grandchildren, Frank David Wood of Oklahoma City, Okla., Carrie Ellen Ragsdale of Champaigne-Urbana, Ill., Ed Ragsdale of Austin, Texas, Melinda Ragsdale of Starkville, Miss., Jim Ragsdale of Gautier, Miss., Rusty Russell of Jackson, Miss., and Terri Russell of Baton Rouge, La.; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Legion Cemetery at Newellton with the Rev. J. Fulton McGraw officiating. Burial will be by Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah, La. Visitation will be 5-7 tonight.

Graveside services for Mrs. Lorene Priddy Ragsdale, age 98, of Newellton, will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 2, 2005 at Legion Cemetery in Newellton with Rev. J. Fulton McGraw officiating. Burial will follow under direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home of Tallulah. Visitation will be Thursday night from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
