James Cicero Boggess was born on July 31, 1848
in Tennessee. He was the second child born to Charles Haise Boggess &
Isabella C. Martin.
James’ family moved from Weakley County, Tennessee to Union,
Conway County, Arkansas sometime between 1850 and 1860.
James married Alice Myrtle Smith on December 11, 1871 in Jackson
County, Arkansas. He was 24 years old and she was 19 years. Alice
was born on February 16, 1851 Philips County, Arkansas, the daughter of Jonas Dudley
Smith and Viola Lawson Clendenning.
James and Alice had one child:

James Cicero Boggess died four months after the birth of his
daughter, leaving his young wife a widow at the age of 22, with an infant to
care for. James died on his 25th birthday, January 31, 1873, in Conway
County, Arkansas.
