Albert May Stephenson (1889-1960)

Albert May Stephenson was born November 24, 1889 in Union, Boone County, Kentucky.  He was the son of George H. Stevenson and Florence May Clements.  He was raised on the family farm in Union.

On June 5, 1917, Albert registered for the draft for the First World War.  At that time, he was living with his parents in Union.  He was a self employed painter and paper hanger.  He was described as short, of medium build, and had light grey eyes and dark brown hair.  Albert was a veteran of the war.

Albert married Ida Belle Lizer in 1926 in Union, Boone County, Kentucky.  He was 36 years old and she was 18 years.  Ida was born October 7, 1907 in Harrison County, Kentucky, the daughter of Andrew Jackson Lizer and Armilda Lail.

Albert and Ida had at least six children:

Albert M.         born September 22, 1931

Shirley A.        born October 24, 1935

Lindy Lou        born August 16, 1938

Paul                 born 1940

Ruth H.            born February 15, 1945

After their marriage, the couple settled their family in a home on Big Bone Road in Union, where Albert was employed as a mechanic in a garage.  By 1940, they had moved to a farm in Boone County.

Albert May Stephenson died on June 18, 1960 at the Veteran’s Medical Center in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.  He was 70 years old at his death.  He was buried at Big Bone Cemetery in Boone County, Kentucky.
