Dale Oliver Nugent was born March 4, 1885 in Grant Parish, Louisiana. He was the son of FrancisOliver Nugent and Dolly Crump. He was raised in Grant Parish.
His father died in 1889, when Dale was four years old, and his mother died in 1896, when he was eleven.
Dale married Carrie Houston Walking on July 16, 1907, probably in Louisiana. He was 22 years old and she was 24 years. Carrie was born on March 20, 1883 in Louisiana, the daughter of William Walking and Mary Adelphia Southwick. Dale and Carrie had two children:

In 1910, Dale and Carrie were living in Shelby County, Tennessee. By 1918, they had moved to Tono, Thurston County, Washington.
Dale registered for the draft for the First World War on September 12, 1918. At that time, he was employed as a physician for the Washington Union Coal Company. He was described as tall and slender with blue eyes and brown hair. It is also noted on his draft card that he claimed a defect in vision in his left eye. Dale did not serve in the war.
By 1930, the family was living on Pearl Street in Centralia, Lewis County, Washington, where Dale had established his own medical practice, called Nugent Clinic.
Dale Oliver Nugent died on September 9, 1943 in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. He was 58 years old at his death.
Carrie Houston Walking Nugent survived her husband by 22 years. She died on May 14, 1965 in Centralia, Lewis County, Washington. She was 82 years old at her death.
