Mary Virginia Boggus (1870-1939)

Mary Virginia Boggus was born October 24, 1870 in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana.  She was the daughter of Peter Boggess and Amanda Antionette Sims.  She was raised in Rapides County, Louisiana.

Mary married Joseph Hall on February 21, 1891, probably in Louisiana.  She was 20 years old and he was 39 years.  Joseph was born October 9, 1851 in Marion County, Arkansas, the son of Abner Hall and Sarah Ann Duval.

After their marriage, Joseph and Mary settled their family in McCulloch County, Texas, where Joseph worked as a farm laborer.  Joseph and Mary had three children:

            James H.       born June 1893
            Francis E.      born July 1895
            Avy                born February 19, 1902

Joseph Hall died on February 21, 1911 in McCulloch County, Texas.  The cause of death listed was pneumonia.  He was 59 years old at his death.

After the death of her husband, Mary went to live with her married daughter, Avy Sheppard, in her home in Brady, McCulloch County, Texas.  Mary lived with her daughter’s family for the remainder of her life.

Mary Virginia Boggus Hall died on October 26, 1939 in Brady, McCulloch County, Texas.  The cause of death listed was cardio-vascular disease.  She died two days after her 69th birthday.

John Don Eyre (1891-1926)


John Don “Donnie” Eyre was born January 21, 1891 in either Rapides or Grant County, Louisiana.  He was the son of John S. Eyre and Frances Ann Boggus.  He was raised in Grant County, Louisiana.

Donnie married Martha “Mattie” Lewis around 1908 in Grant County, Louisiana.  He was 17 years old and she was 16 years.  Mattie was born December 14, 1892 in Pollock, Grant County, Louisiana, the daughter of John Thomas Lewis and Martha Elizabeth Tracy. 

After their marriage, the young couple lived with Donnie’s parents in their home in Pollock, Grant County, Louisiana.  Donnie and Mattie had at least five children:

            Julius Peter               born August 12, 1909
            Ruby                         born May 25, 1911
            Daisy  Woodley        born 1913
            Jack Stewart             born July 13, 1920
            Francis Elizabeth     born 1924

Donnie registered for the draft for World War I on June 5, 1917 in Allen County, Louisiana.  He was employed as a farmer for Alexandria Turpentine in Oakdale County, at that time.  Donnie was described as of medium height and build, with blue eyes and brown hair.

Three years later, Donnie and his family were living on 7th Avenue in Allen County, Louisiana, where he found work as a carpenter.

John Don Eyre died on May 18, 1926 in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana.  He was just 36 years old at his death.  Mattie died two years later.

Martha Lewis Eyre died on March 16, 1928 in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana at the age of 35 years.

After the death of their parents, Donnie’s and Mattie’s children went to live with their grandmother, Fannie Eyre, in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana.

Frances Ann Boggus (1869-1954)

Frances Ann “Fannie” Boggus was born July 1869 in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana.  She was the daughter of Peter Boggess and Amanda Antionette Sims.  She was raised in Rapides County, Louisiana.

Fannie married John Stewart Eyre on July 29, 1889 in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana.  She was 20 years old and he was 23 years.  John was born in November 1865 in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana, the son of Willis Preston Eyre and Mary Elizabeth Ann Fant. 

 John and Fannie had one child:

            John Don “Donnie”                         born January 21, 1891

After their marriage, John and Fannie settled their family in a home in Pollock, Grant County, Louisiana, where John found work as a farm laborer.  By 1910, John was working as a prospector for a lumber mill.

John’s and Fannie’s only son, Donnie, and his wife died within two years in the late 1920’s, leaving their four children as orphans.  The children moved in with their grandparents in their home in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana.

John Stewart Eyre died on January 17, 1929 in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana.  He was 63 years old at his death.

In 1930, Fannie and her grandchildren were living in a home on Webster Street in Alexandria, along with Fannie’s sister-in-law, Katie Ray.  Fannie was employed as a housekeeper at that time.

Frances Ann Boggus Eyre died on March 30, 1954 in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana.  She was 85 years old at her death.

Daisey E. McWilliams (1894-1939)


Daisey E. McWilliams was born November 14, 1894 in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana.  She was the daughter of Joseph K. McWilliams and Alice Amanda Boggus.  She was raised in Rapides County, Louisiana.

Daisey’s father died sometime between 1900 and 1910.  In 1920, Daisy was living with her mother in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana, where her mother rented out a boarding house. 

Daisey married Harvey Meadows Banks around 1922, probably in Louisiana.  She was 27 years old and he was 30 years.  Harvey was born October 1, 1891 in Arkansas, the son of James Newton Banks and Mattie Childress.

Harvey registered for the draft for the First World War on June 5, 1917 in Sevier County, Arkansas.  At that time, he was employed as a traveling salesman.  He was described as tall and slender, with grey eyes and dark brown hair.  Although he claimed exemption from the draft due to a physical disability, Harvey was listed as a veteran of the war in the 1930 US Census.

After their marriage, Harvey and Daisey traveled to Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee, where their daughter was born:

            Katherine McWilliams Banks        born January 29, 1923

By 1930, the family had relocated to Charlotte, Mecklenberg County, North Carolina, where they rented a home on East 5th Street.   

Daisey E. McWilliams Banks died on June 2, 1939 in Charlotte, Mecklenberg County, North Carolina.  The cause of death listed was breast cancer, which had metastasized to her lungs and bones.  She was 44 years old at her death.

After the death of his wife, Harvey married Georgie (maiden name unknown).  She was listed as his wife on his death certificate.

Harvey Meadows Banks died on June 23, 1964 in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina.  He was 72 years old at his death.

Julius Patrick McWilliams (1888-1964)

Julius Patrick McWilliams was born November 25, 1888, in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana. He was the son of Joseph K. McWilliams and Alice AmandaBoggus.  He was raised in Rapides County, Louisiana.

Julius married Eunice Alice Guirdy around 1911 in Louisiana.  He was 21 years old and she was 18 years.  Eunice was born April 30, 1890 in Louisiana, the daughter of Leodore Guirdy and Elizabeth Myhand.

Julius registered for the draft for World War I in Dowling Park, Suwannee County, Florida.  He was working for the Park Lumber Company at that time and providing for his widowed mother and sister in Louisiana, as well as for his own family. 

In 1920, the couple was renting a home in Cedar Key, Levy County, Florida, where Julius found employment as a bookkeeper in a saw mill.  By 1930, they had moved to Haines City, Polk County, Florida, where Julius managed a lumber supply house and Eunice worked as bookkeeper for the same company.  Eunice’s mother, Elizabeth, lived with them in 1930.

Julius Patrick McWilliams died in March 1964 in Alachua County, Florida at the age of 75 years.  Eunice died exactly one year later.

Eunice Alice Guirdy McWilliams died in March 1965 in the same county.  She was 75 years old at her death.

Alice Amanda Boggus (1868-1941)

Alice Amanda Boggus was born February 1868 in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana.  She was the daughter of Peter Boggess and Amanda Antionette Sims.  She was raised in Rapides County, Louisiana.

Alice married Joseph K. McWilliams on December 1, 1885 in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana.  She was 17 years old and he was 30 years.  Joseph was born in March 1855 in Louisiana. 

After their marriage, the couple settled on a farm in Pollock, Grant County, Louisiana.  Joseph and Alice had two children:

            Julius Patrick        born November 25, 1888
            Daisey E.              born November 14, 1894

By 1910, Alice had moved to Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana, where she rented out a boarding house.  She was a widow by that time.  Joseph died sometime between 1900 and 1910.

Alice remained in Alexandria, Rapides County, at least until 1930.  In that census, her occupation was listed as that of a “land lady” of an apartment house. 

Alice Amanda Boggus McWilliams died on April 27, 1941 in Alexandria, Rapides County, Louisiana.  She was 74 years old at her death.

Tabitha Joanna Boggus was born about 1858 in Hempstead County, Arkansas.  She was the daughter of Peter Boggess and Amanda M. West.  She was raised in Hempstead County, Arkansas and Rapides County, Louisiana.

Tabitha was living with her widowed father in Rigolette, Rapides County, Louisiana in 1880.

Fredrick Wilhelm Schiefelbine (1885-1953)


Fredrick Wilhelm “Fred” Schiefelbine was born October 10, 1885 in Kansas.   He was the son of Leo Earnest Schiefelbine and Earnestine Urban.

Fred married Alzena Belle Adams around 1907 in either Kansas or Missouri.  Alzena was born June 4, 1890 in Missouri, the daughter of George W. Adams and Sarah Ellen Halloway.  Fred and Alzena had four children:

            Belle E.                      born 1908
            Alberta Lorene          born 1911
            Leonard                     born 1915
            Fred M.                       born 1918

After their marriage, Fred and Alzena settled on a farm in Jackson, Camden County, Missouri. 

Fred registered for the draft for World War I on September 12, 1918 in Camden County, Missouri.  He was described as tall and slender with gray eyes and black hair.  He did not serve in the war.

Alzena Belle Adams Schiefelbine died on November 21, 1919 in either Camden County, Missouri or Kingman County, Kansas.  She was 29 years old at her death. 

Fred and his children were living in Canton, Kingman County, Kansas in 1920 and 1925, where Fred found work as a farm laborer. 

By 1930, Fred had married Ora Gertrude Stansbury.  This was the second marriage for both Fred and Ora.  Ora was born May 19, 1888 in Missouri, the daughter of Samuel Stansbury and Josephine Stewart Wilson.

Fred registered for the draft for the Second World War in 1942 in San Diego County, California.  He was 57 years old at that time and working in Fallbrook, San Diego County, California.

Ora Gertrude Stansberry Schiefelbine died on July 21, 1944 in San Diego County, California.  She was buried in the Upchurch Cemetery in Norwich, Kingman County, Kansas.  Ora was 56 years old at her death. 

Fred married Lucy Elinor “Fanny” Torry sometime after the death of his second wife.  Fanny was born June 1, 1901 in Grant County, Louisiana.  She was the daughter of Lycurgus Eugene Torry and Lucy Anna Williamson. She was raised in Grant County, Louisiana.  In 1920, Fanny was living in Harris County, Texas with her sister, Phalby Barton, and brother-in-law, Silas.

Fredrick Wilhelm Schiefelbine died on March 24, 1953 in Riverside County, California at the age of 67 years.

Lucy Elinor Torry Schiefelbine died on July 12, 1989 in Los Angeles County, California.  She was 88 years old at her death.
